Master Health Architect, Global Healthcare, CGI

Stephen Saunders is the Master Health Architect within CGI’s Global Health Industry Practice, spanning 400 offices in 40 countries around the globe. He is an expert in corporate management, business development and enterprise delivery. He has provided lead architecture support and has successfully delivered more than 25 integrated enterprise solutions with budgets between 10 and 150 million dollars. Prior to joining CGI in 2006, Mr. Saunders was the Chief Architect for EDS Canada’s Health IT Practice which spanned every jurisdiction in Canada.

Mr. Saunders is currently responsible for providing CGI’s Health IT Leadership, Portfolio Development and/or Delivery Oversight in many of the world’s most significant Health IT delivery projects including several projects that place the Citizen at the Center of Care.

In the last 25 years, Mr. Saunders has fulfilled the chief architecture role for teams working on enterprise iEHR, HIE, DIS, LAB, DIR/PACS, ERP, EHR, EMR, DW, DSM, Clinical BI, Chronic Care, Collaborative Care, and Deep Clinical/Clinical Viewer/Portal projects and implementations in a number of Canadian and International health care jurisdictions.

Mr. Saunders provides leadership, coordination and training to teams of Technology Architects involved in the delivery of health care solutions ensuring that effort and investment can be leveraged from project to project.

Mr. Saunders works with senior executives and management teams at client sites and in regulatory agencies to ensure that delivered solutions conform to requirements and the locally evolving National, Provincial/State, Regional and/or Municipal Architectural Blueprints. Where issues exist, Mr. Saunders works with blueprint administrators to ensure that they are updated/adjusted as required to suit the specific needs of a client’s solution’s requirements and/or the evolution of Health IT Standards. In this way, Mr. Saunders ensures that solutions address Privacy and Security legislation and conform to industry standards and their inferred business requirements.

Mr. Saunders develops portfolio, researches and reviews new Healthcare Information Technology; he performs due diligence, conducts negotiations and finalizes teaming agreements with potential partner Solution Applications and Services.
