Ms. Soyean Kim is currently the Director of Digital Products, supporting Providence Health Care (PHC)’s digital partnerships and projects, and facilitating the use of technology to advance PHC’s digital capacity. She supports machine learning and AI initiatives, including Canada’s Digital Technology Supercluster by working with a collection of organizations who collaborate to develop world leading technologies that will power the digital transformation of business and society while delivering economic growth across Canada. Ms. Kim is an advocate for ethical implementation of digital transformation and a speaker on the topic of real world applications of AI. Her speaking engagement includes Canadian Science and Policy Centre (CSPC), Harvard Berkman, PAPIs in London, UK which is a series of international AI conferences, and the BC Tech Summit in Vancouver.

As a professional statistician (P.Stat.), Ms. Soyean Kim is Past Chair of the Accreditation Committee at the Statistical Society of Canada, and has worked with the United Nations as a task team member of their global working group on big data for official statistics. She has previously led a team of data scientists at Technical Safety BC, a safety regulator in Canada, where she contributed in advancement of ethics roadmap in predictive system as well as deployment of AI and machine learning to help safety inspection process. Ms. Kim has also experience working with FortisBC, Translink, BC Biomedical, the Society of Specialist Physicians and Surgeons, and the BC Ministry of Health.
