Highlights: Joined AWS Worldwide Public Sector in March 2021 as a senior executive responsible for delivering national security solutions across the globe. Advancing a wide range of initiatives to address customer requirements for hosting sensitive and classified workloads in the AWS cloud. Immediately prior to AWS he served on the intelligence and national security team during President-Elect Biden’s transition. He led reviews for cyber security, satellite reconnaissance and digital transformation.
From 2015 to 2019 he was the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) first Associate Deputy Director for Digital Innovation. He accelerated the integration of advanced digital capability across CIA’s mission areas and was responsible for a wide range of espionage missions including cyber intelligence, open source collection, secure global communications, worldwide mission information systems, data curation, and data science. He led a worldwide workforce to rehost legacy systems and create an agile, secure and resilient digital infrastructure that enables all source intelligence for 17 agencies and edge users.
Prior to this position, he served as Deputy Director of CIA’s Science and Technology Directorate (DS&T). Within the DS&T he held senior executive roles across a wide range of missions, technical disciplines, and tradecraft, ranging from research and development to clandestine operations. He led teams that developed, delivered, and deployed satellite and airborne reconnaissance systems, next generation collection platforms, clandestine technical collection systems, and advanced targeting tools and methodologies. His direct role in high profile counterterrorism efforts has been recognized by multiple Presidents, Congress and leaders across a wide range of foreign partners.
He began his career as a US Air Force (USAF) officer and continued serving in the USAF Reserve. He retired at the rank of Colonel and supported combat operations in Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He has received the Meritorious and the Distinguished Presidential Rank Awards, numerous IC, CIA, DOD, and USAF individual and unit awards. He was the inaugural recipient of CIA’s highest individual award for advancing workforce diversity, inclusion, and equity. He served on the adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University and completed post graduate coursework at MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Northwestern, Carnegie-Mellon, and The Aspen Institute. He resides in Los Angeles, California with his family.
