Rachel (Heinrichs) Roy specializes in labour and employment law, and election and campaign law. Rachel also provides legal advice in human rights cases and assistance to progressive organizations to ensure their campaigns comply with electoral, privacy and CRTC rules . Rachel provides representation at arbitration and various tribunals and courts, including the BC Labour Relations Board, the BC Human Rights Tribunal and the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

Rachel studied law at the University of Manitoba and the University of British Columbia. She also studied law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, obtaining a minor in Internet law.

During her legal studies, Rachel was an intern at the Review Division of WorkSafeBC and the BC Provincial Court in Surrey. She later worked for the Office of the Chief Judge. Rachel articled with a labour law firm in downtown Vancouver prior to being called to the British Columbia bar.

Prior to joining AQR Law, Rachel served as in-house counsel for Canada’s NDP during the 2015 federal election.

Rachel is also an instructor/lecturer at the BCIT School of Business, teaching employment law to managers and HR professionals.

Rachel loves hanging out with Sula, her labradoodle rescue, who is also AQR Law’s office dog.
