Mark Chase

Executive Director, Decision Support, Vancouver Coastal Health

Mark Chase has been the Executive Director of Decision Support for Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) since July 2008. Mark has been with VCH and its predecessor organizations since 1997, initially as the senior planning leader, then Project Director of Patient Flow Improvement before moving to his current role. His department is responsible for the VCH data warehouse and its associated analytic and reporting user interfaces, which are being significantly expanded and enhanced as a result of major information system projects in both acute and community sectors. Mark has been involved in supporting decision-makers in strategic management, performance measurement, performance improvement and resource allocation in Canadian health care for over 35 years.

Before joining the health region, Mark was Director of Corporate Planning for St. Paul’s Hospital, which followed five years as Executive Director of the BC Council of University Teaching Hospitals and 10 years working across Canada as a health care management consultant with Medicus Canada. Mark received his Bachelor of Science with Honours in Mathematics from Mount Allison University and his Masters of Science in Operations Research from UBC.
