Jeremy Smith
Executive Project Lead, Doctors of BC
Jeremy Smith is a strategist and executive project leader for large change programs in the health care and health information technology sectors. He is currently wrapping up an extremely successful nine year program to enable BC physicians to move from paper to electronic medical records (EMR), as well as achievement of widespread effective use of the EMR to support proactive primary care, quality improvement, and health system interoperability. Prior to returning to BC, Jeremy developed and led the regional Electronic Health Record (EHR) strategy for Calgary Health Region (2001-2005), while concurrently participating in Alberta’s senior eHealth/IM-IT governance body and leading provincial projects on its behalf. Prior to Alberta, he worked across the US and Canada in consulting roles with clients ranging from world-renowned academic teaching hospitals to health insurers and primary care networks.
Jeremy is a regular speaker on topics related to health informatics, and has taught courses in Toronto, Calgary and Victoria on behalf of the University of Victoria. In his spare time he is a competitive sailboat racer leading his team to numerous first place finishes at regional and national championships, and is Past Commodore of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club
