Jay Schlosar

Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategic Initiatives Division, Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services

Jay Schlosar is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister in the Strategic Initiatives Division of the Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services. In this role, Jay is leading the Division responsible for providing corporate web and data services to government. This Division also oversees the policy development associated with the province’s Open Government agenda, which includes: a new, citizen-focused web presence (www.gov.bc.ca), the DataBC Open Data project, the Open Information project, and citizen engagement. This Division also oversees priority policy development and corporate planning processes with respect to business and technology transformation across government, with recent work culminating in the creation of a transformation and technology strategy for the BC Public Service entitled Citizens @ the Centre: B.C. Government 2.0. Prior to joining this team, Jay served for seven years in the Office of the Premier, most recently as Deputy Chief of Staff for Issues Management and Policy Coordination in that office where he provided communications and policy support to the Premier and Cabinet. Before that, Jay served as a senior political assistant under both the Ministry of Community, Aboriginal and Women’s Services (2001 to 2002) and the Ministry of Competition, Science and Enterprise (2002 to 2003). Jay’s educational background includes a Masters of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science.
