Hayden Lansdell – VIPSS25

Associate Deputy Minister & Government CIO, Ministry of Citizens’ Services

Hayden Lansdell is the Government Chief Information Officer (Government CIO) and Associate Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Citizens’ Services in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The OCIO leads strategy, policy and standards for telecommunications, information technology, IT security and the management of the IM/IT investment portfolio for the Province.

Prior to being named Government CIO and Associate DM, Hayden was Assistant Deputy Minister of the BC Data Service Division (BCDS) in the OCIO. He led the work of cross-government approaches to data management and provided corporate leadership, services and policy development that enables government to make informed, evidence-based decisions to enhance service delivery for the people of B.C.

As Assistant Deputy Minister of BCDS, Hayden played a key role in the development of the Anti Racism Data Act. Hayden’s work at BCDS included the establishment of the Anti-Racism Data Committee, the delivery of anti-racism workshops for senior leaders across the BC Public Service and the annual release of statistics under the Anti Racism Data Act.

Previously, Hayden held various executive positions, including at the Ministry of International Trade where he oversaw BC’s international marketing activities as well as with the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training. Hayden also spent eight years in Ottawa leading several regulatory policy and pharmaceutical policy initiatives at both Health Canada and Environment Canada. Hayden joined Citizens’ Services in June 2018 as an Executive Lead for BCDS.

Hayden holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Victoria.

When not at work, Hayden enjoys spending time with his wife and son.
