Sergeant (Sgt.) Gordie Jones has been a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) since 2009. With extensive experience in both urban and rural front-line policing, as well as many years experience as a federal policing investigator, gaining valuable insights into diverse operational environments.
Before joining the RCMP, Sgt. Jones spent a decade in the IT industry, naturally gravitating toward investigating technologically aided crimes as a result. Over the past eight years, he has specialized as a cybercrime investigator, and for the past four years has focused on cryptocurrency related investigations and technologies. In his current role, he serves as one of the RCMP’s National Cryptocurrency Coordinators, supporting complex investigations involving digital assets.
Sgt. Jones has significant experience leading major investigations into cyberattacks on Canada’s critical infrastructure and the use of stolen data in financial crimes, including money laundering and fraud. His work frequently involves collaboration with international partners, facilitating the exchange of best practices in digital evidence gathering and contributing to cross border investigations.
