Dr. Paul Grundy

Chief Medical Officer and Director, Healthcare Transformation, IBM Corporation

Dr. Grundy, known as the godfather of the PCMH, is the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Healthcare Transformation with the IBM Corporation. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. Dr. Grundy is the founding president of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative.

Dr. Grundy is a member of National Academy of Science’s National Academy of Medicine (Institute of Medicine), director of the ACGME and member of the national advisory board of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice & Education. He is a retired senior diplomat with the rank of Minister Consular U.S. State Department. Winner of three US Department of State Superior Honor, 2012 NCQA Quality, the 2014 Sappington and the 2016 Barbara Starfield Centered Primary Care awards. He was made an Honorary member of the American Academy of Family Medicine in 2010, and, in 2016, became the first American made an honorary member of the Irish GP Association.
