Dr. Martin Dawes

Dr. Dawes is the Head of the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He started his clinical practice as a family physician in Oxford. Following the completion of his PhD in 1992, he helped develop a Masters program in Evidence Based Health Care, which allows clinicians to engage in research. He has directed the UK Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford and was the head of family practice at McGill University before coming to UBC in 2010. His research includes genomics in primary care and lifestyle interventions to prevent diabetes.
