Daphne Guerrero

Manager, Public Education & Outreach, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

As the Manager of Public Education and Outreach at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), Daphne develops and oversees the Office’s education and outreach activities aimed at encouraging people to think and talk about digital privacy. Some of the initiatives she has spearheaded at the OPC include a national student video competition; a series of armchair discussions on privacy; the creation of a youth advisory panel on digital privacy; and a comic book. Daphne also leads the advancement of social media tools that support OPC’s privacy awareness objectives. Daphne’s work in digital issues started at the non-profit Media Awareness Network (now MediaSmarts), where she created and promoted resources designed to foster kids’ media literacy. She joined the federal public service in 2001, and, prior to joining the OPC, worked in communications in two federal departments and on Parliament Hill.
