Calvin has spent over three decades of his professional career engaging with the “human element” of threat actors and their networks. This includes previously within international law enforcement and now in the private sector. His work is focused on advising and supporting clients managing and mitigating the risks of the 21st Century threats directed at corporations and working with law firms and C Suites. From insider threats, espionage, economic subversion and coercion, cyber attacks, kidnaps, extortion, blackmail, asset tracing, financial crimes, law fare activities and counter mis / disinformation operations from foreign states, his work has consistently involved acute risks, severe threats and the interface with the threat actors. As a former RCMP Senior Operations Officer overseeing Transnational Organized Crime, Chinese, Iranian and cartel activities were his staple threat networks. He was also Canada’s Team Leader for the ING, a team of kidnap ransom specialists supporting the Canadian government engaging with terrorist and transnational networks.
Calvin now serves as a Senior Partner of the Critical Risk Team, a global and boutique risk advisory firm specializing in acute risk management advisors and threat mitigation professionals. His team consist of intelligence, military, cyber, law enforcement, information specialists with global reach and capabilities offering a host of services ranging from due diligence, vetting, office sweeps, physical security assessments, risk / threat assessments, cyber advice, crisis management support and strategic responses to mitigate and counter threats. Calvin is also a member of the Steering Committee for the Council on Countering Hybrid Warfare, a NGO working with the private sector, academia, etc,. in enhancing awareness and exploring innovative ways to counter foreign threats. He is an advocate of the importance of practitioners and the need for the inclusion of the school of hard knocks in countering foreign threats and high risks threat actors.
