Ben Blakely

Ben was the Vice-President, Security and Chief Security Officer at Hydro One. His accountability was to protect the assets, people and infrastructure used to supply electricity to 40% of Canada. Before Hydro One, Ben was the Head of Information Security at Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). In this role, Ben was responsible for managing the integrity of Ontario’s $25B electricity market, and the Bulk electricity system used to power Ontario’s economy.
During Ben’s over 20 years in cybersecurity, he provided security leadership to regulators, governments, intelligence agencies and some of the largest utilities in Canada. Ben received the first and only Cybersecurity Leadership Award from the Canadian Electricity Association.
