Ian Jack

Managing Director of Communications and Government Relations, Canadian Automobile Association (CAA)

Ian Jack directs the national public education and lobbying activities for the Canadian Automobile Association, now in its second century as an advocate for the transportation interests of the public. Founded in 1913, CAA continues to work for road safety, infrastructure that benefits all, and an informed consumer.

He is a public affairs strategist with extensive knowledge of advocacy and communications gained through 25 years in national journalism and public service roles.

Prior to joining CAA, Ian served as Deputy Commissioner of Public Affairs for the Competition Bureau of Canada. At the Bureau, Ian provided strategic advice to the Commissioner, and directed the Bureau’s communications and corporate stakeholder relations activities.

Ian has also worked as Director of Communications to a federal Industry Minister; an Account Director at Hill & Knowlton, an international lobbying firm; and as a reporter and editor for the Financial Post and Canadian Press. He has two daughters, Nathalie and Anna, and lives in Gatineau, Quebec.
