Dr. Samantha Pollard
Senior Methodologist, Cancer Control Research, BC Cancer
Dr. Pollard is a Senior Methodologist within the Department of Cancer Control Research at BC Cancer. She is a co-investigator on the Genome Canada funded, Canadian Network for Learning Healthcare Systems and Cost-Effective ‘Omics Innovation (CLEO), as well as the newly launched PRecision Oncology Evidence Development in Cancer Treatment (PREDiCT) Program. Dr. Pollard serves as a member of the Terry Fox Research Institute Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network (TFRI-MOHCCN) Health Technology Assessment Working Group, convener for the International Health Economics Association’s Economics of Genomics and Precision Medicine Special Interest Group, and faculty instructor in regulatory science with the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Academy of Translational Medicine.
Dr. Pollard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from UBC, a Master of Science in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University, and a PhD from UBC’s School of Population and Public Health. Her mixed-methods research program aims to generate evidence to support values-informed, timely, and appropriate integration of precision medicine across Canadian healthcare systems. Central to this work is the integration of patient, public, clinician, and decision maker perspectives into the evidence base upon which reimbursement and implementation decisions are made.
