Walid Rjaibi

Walid Rjaibi is Distinguished Engineer & CTO for IBM Data Security. He drives the architecture and technical strategy for data security across products and services. His most recent work included leading the development of IBM Key Protect – IBM’s encryption key management service for the cloud, and creating the security model for dashDB – IBM’s managed analytics warehouse on the cloud. Prior to his current role, Walid held several technical and management roles within IBM including Research Staff Member at the Zurich Research Lab, Security Architect for DB2 LUW, and Chief Security Architect for the Information Management Division. He spearheaded the development of encryption for data at rest, fine-grained access control, and dynamic data masking for IBM databases. Walid’s data security work resulted in over 20 patents and publications in leading scientific and academic conferences such as the international conference on Very Large Databases (VLDB), the International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE), and the international conference on security and cryptography (SECRYPT). He is a frequent speaker at industrial conferences such as IBM Insight, IBM Interconnect, and the International DB2 User Group (IDUG).
