Veronica Chodak

Portfolio Officer, FOIP, Office of the Information & Privacy Commissioner of Alberta

Veronica Chodak joined the Alberta Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner as a Portfolio Officer in January 2008. In that role, Veronica attempts to settle matters between parties on privacy and access issues; conducts investigations; reviews privacy impact assessments; and responds to inquiries from public bodies regarding the administration and jurisdiction of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the “FOIP Act”). Prior to joining the OIPC, Veronica was the Access Unit Manager in one of the busiest FOIP offices in Alberta, at that time providing FOIP services primarily to: Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry; Advanced Education and Technology; Corporate Human Resources; and Alberta Children’s Services. She began her extensive career in the Alberta Public Service with Alberta Environment in the field of records management, transitioning to FOIP in 1995.
