Tamara Dull

Director of Emerging Technologies, SAS

TAMARA DULL is the Director of Emerging Technologies for SAS Best Practices, a thought leadership organization at SAS Institute. Through engaging publications, rich media and industry engagements, she delivers a pragmatic perspective on topics including big data, Hadoop, open source and the Internet of Things. Tamara has been in the high tech industry for over 25 years, and has held positions in enterprise training and consulting, software development, marketing, and IT, product and executive management. Tamara uses her unique blend of data-rich experience, market understanding and technical prowess to educate and entertain data professionals on the how-to’s, best practices and trends in today’s emerging marketplace. As a pioneer in social media and online strategy, Tamara has established dynamic social marketing and collaboration initiatives. Prior to SAS, she provided strategic marketing and branding leadership and online media expertise for a management consulting firm, helmed a major release of a high-tech startup’s enterprise collaboration software suite, and established an online community in her role as co-founder of a nonprofit. Tamara regularly writes and blogs for SAS, Smart Data Collective and The Cyberista Says at tamaradull.com. Two popular publications include The Big Data E-book: A Tale of Customer Loyalty and Going SoLoMo and A Non-Geek’s Big Data Playbook: Hadoop and the Enterprise Data Warehouse. Tamara is a self-described “cyberista,” whose favorite TV shows are from the Stargate franchise and Battlestar Galactica. (Yes, she has all the DVD box sets.) She finds science fiction to be more believable than some of the experiences she’s had in corporate America.
