Liam McKeracher
President Elect, PMI Vancouver Island Chapter
Liam is a Learning Consultant with the Talent Management Branch of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. In this role, Liam delivers new training development projects, manages on-going training programs and supports the creation and implementation of a new Integrated Learning Strategy for the Ministry. This strategy establishes governance structure and systems for the Ministry’s learning and will help get the right learner in the right training at the right time.
Liam holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and has completed Certified Scrum Master (CSM) training. As a former Officer in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Liam spent five years in operations management roles on board RCN Ships and another five years as an instructor and project manager. During his military career, Liam found that his true passion lay in creating complex plans and successfully carrying them out. This led him to the discipline of project management and he hasn’t looked back.
Liam is actively involved in giving back to the Victoria community and his profession. Over the past few years Liam has had to opportunity to take on the roles of Mentorship Coordinator, Membership Director and Certification Director for the Vancouver Island Chapter of PMI. Liam is responsible for continued chapter growth through active recruitment, retention programs and partnering with major employers and educational institutions.
Liam has a wide breadth of experience in the public sector and has a passion for leading project teams to deliver products that meet end user requirements.
Liam completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Royal Military College of Canada and Graduate Certificates in Project and Change Management from Royal Roads University. He earned his PMP in 2015 and has been steadily working towards his Master’s Degree. In between Master’s courses, Liam has also been completing courses towards a Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education at the University of Victoria. As a practiced facilitator, Liam has spent a fair amount of time in front of the class teaching Junior Officers in the Navy, teaching business and financial literacy skills to young adults and teaching Project Management concepts to PMP candidates.
