Justin B. Weiss

Justin B. Weiss serves as Senior Director for International Privacy and Policy within Yahoo!’s Privacy, Trust & Safety Group, focusing on online privacy matters for the company’s many global properties, with specific emphasis on online advertising privacy and consumer-facing communications and tools adapted to diverse cultural and legal contexts. Leveraging his experience as a lead drafter for US self-regulatory codes of conduct for online behavioral advertising, he represents Yahoo! before world governments and within international trade associations and helps advise on the development of self-regulatory industry standards for publishers, ad networks, agencies and advertisers, and their adaptation to new business models and changing technology. He is a frequent speaker in both domestic and international fora on privacy regulatory matters, and has emerged as a leading authority on the EU ePrivacy Directive transposition and other emerging regulatory challenges with trans-Atlantic impact for global businesses.Prior to his role at Yahoo!, Justin served as Privacy Counsel to both the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and the Email Sender & Provider Coalition (ESPC), two leading US- trade groups with specialized expertise in online advertising privacy. His expertise in international work originated during his service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guinea, West Africa, followed by two tours of duty within the international relations divisions of the Olympic Winter Games Committees of Salt Lake City, Utah and Torino, Italy.
