John Waldron
Director, Enterprise Architecture, Provincial Health Services Authority
John Waldron is a health informatics professional currently serving Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Providence Healthcare, and Provincial Health Services Authority as the Director, Enterprise Architecture and Security reporting to the CIO. He brings diverse expertise to the role including pragmatic project management, mature technical skills, and an agile approach applied to the health domain; requirements planning, clinical systems design, software development, systems architecture, interface development and health information exchange are some areas of expertise. His 15 years experience encompasses both the private and public sectors of healthcare organizations including work with a clinical software start-up, a leading teaching hospital and consulting with a variety of healthcare delivery organizations and vendors across North America. A combination of business and technical expertise enable him to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an organization while providing a hands-on approach to problem solving. He favours a systems approach and clearly recognizes the value of information for better patient care and a better health system. He actively participates in the health informatics community. He has presented at eHealth (COACH Canada), HIMSS, Infoway Partnership, ITCH and TEPR. He is Past President of the BC Health Information Management Professionals Society and was member of the HIMSS 2014 Annual Conference Education Committee. John is a graduate of the University of Victoria School of Health Information Science.
