Dr. Jessica Percy-Campbell – VIPSS25

Jessica Percy-Campbell graduated from the University of Victoria with a PhD in Political Science (2023). Her dissertation, titled “Aging in Place with Google and Amazon: Privacy and Surveillance Implications of Older Adults”, (supported by the Big Data Surveillance Project, AGE-WELL, and others), explored the ways older adults use smart home devices for purposes related to health and aging, with a critical analysis of privacy and autonomy issues. She has previously worked with the TELUS Data and Trust Office and is currently working with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia as an Investigator. Research interests include: the privacy of the internet, surveillance politics, smart technology and algorithmic discrimination.
