J. William Galbraith

Former Executive Director, Office of the CSE Commissioner

J. William Galbraith is the former Executive Director of the Office of the Communications Security Establishment Commissioner, appointed in February 2010. He joined the Commissioner’s office as Director of Operations in spring 2003. Bill began his career in the private sector with The Conference Board of Canada, 1982 – 1988. He subsequently joined the federal public service, with Investment Canada. From 1990 to 2001, he served in different capacities with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, and in spring 2001 moved to the Department of the Solicitor General. Bill holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University and a two-year multidisciplinary graduate degree, grande distinction, from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Brussels, Belgium. He is also the author of the biography John Buchan: Model Governor General, and received the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals for his volunteer activities.
