Ann Makosinski is a grade eleven student living in Victoria, British Columbia. She has always had an interest in science, and her first toy was actually a box of transistors. Ann started participating in her local science fair in grade 6, but this year she was honored to represent Canada at the Google Science Fair 2013, where she won top prize in her age group. Her invention is a flashlight that runs solely off the heat of the human hand. Her other interests include playing the piano, violin, dabbling with film and photography, and reading.
